Turn local wind into shared power

Eoly's wind farm in Rebaix stands on agricultural land beside the A8/E429 motorway, a few kilometres from Ath in the province of Hainaut. Operational since December 2016, its three turbines generate enough renewable electricity to supply roughly 1,500 households every year. One of the three turbines belongs to Eoly Coöperatie, giving local residents and cooperative members direct ownership of a share in the wind farm's output and revenue. As with all Eoly projects, the neighbours of Rebaix were given first refusal on cooperative shares before the capital raise opened to the wider public.

This wind turbine, built on the Colruyt Group site, has been operational since December 2016. In the meantime, we are working on the construction of 5 additional wind turbines, which will create a wind farm of 6 wind turbines in total.

The Dassenveld wind farm in Halle is where Eoly's story began. Its first turbine, erected in 1999, was for a time the tallest in Belgium; two more turbines followed in 2014, and a further three arrived in 2017, one of them financed through Eoly Coöperatie's very first capital raise. In just six weeks in early 2017, more than 1,200 member-owners invested over €4 million to acquire that turbine, kick-starting the cooperative's model of citizen ownership in wind energy. Today the site remains a symbolic anchor for Eoly, combining one of the region's earliest wind installations with its newest cooperative-owned turbines. The original 1999 turbine has since been dismantled and now serves an educational purpose abroad.
